Which hgp service is most appropriate for my case...

Domiciliary or Telephone based?

Why choose the domiciliary service

Psychological trauma, particularly as a result of road traffic crashes, frequently involves travel and even pedestrian anxiety. Progress may, therefore, be impeded if patients are required to travel to a clinic.

Furthermore, domiciliary sessions facilitate an understanding of the social surround, the interpersonal relationships and other factors that may affect outcome in therapy.

Why choose the telephone based service

Telephoned Based Triage and Therapy is designed to address the following criteria……

  1. The value of the claim is low
ie domiciliary based sessions are not an option.
  2. The psychological symptoms are not severe
  3. Psychological symptoms are uncertain
  4. Early stages of the claim when a telephone assessment could determine whether or not psychological symptoms should be addressed

Initial telephone triages can be helpful:

•    For cases where the referrer is unsure whether psychological problems are present

•    Where there are psychological problems, but uncertainty about their severity or origins

•    When the referrer does not wish to make a financial commitment before having more knowledge of the case or where funds are limited.

•    For low level psychological difficulties and early intervention

How many people return to work and normal living as a result of our intervention?

Practice based evidence is central to the hgp approach.

Internationally recognised psychometric tests are introduced at assessment and at each domiciliary therapy session. These reveal the patient's psychological problems at the outset, provide session by session progress and illustrate an end of therapy result.

The results indicate that a clinically reliable change is effected in the majority of patients who access our service.
